Mmm… I have a new addiction. Pastizzi Cafe in Newtown is the modern day version of 1950’s Maltese Cafe on Crown Street in Surry Hills. It is still a family run business and it shows in their friendly service.
They stock and serve hundreds of golden filo pastry parcels… chilli con carne, veggie curry, spinach & ricotta, chicken & mushroom are just some of the savoury ones to name.

And then there’s the new sweet variety of cherry cheese, chocolate & ricotta (pictured below) and apple (also pictured below). These were so flaky and satisfying.

For those who just can’t get enough of these heavenly things, grab a dozen of frozen ones to take home.

I love cafe! If the cheap and hearty pastizzi are anything to go by, I can’t wait to try the pasta dishes. Ravioli, linguini and cannoli, here I come!
