LIGHTS. CAMERA. FOOD! Vivid Light Festival has launched again and will be running until the 9th of June – think skyscrapers draped in vibrant lights and live music. But what’s a night out without good food? Incomplete, that’s what. The Theatre Bar at the End of the Wharf
The Theatre Bar at the End of the Wharf offers jaw-dropping views of the Harbour Bridge and Luna Park – and they have $12 cocktails. Sip them as you revel in the warm atmosphere and line your belly with the likes of Crispy school prawns with chipotle mayo and Roasted mushroom bruschetta.

Salt Meats Cheese Pop-Up
Admire the Vivid transformation of the CTA Building at Martin Place as it grows into a mesmerising tree and light birds fly across the round surface – while munching on some authentic Italian cured meats from the Salt Meats Cheese Pop-Up. This Italian grocer has a signature range of artisan cheese, cured meats, pastas, sauces, oils and salts, while also offering breakfast and lunch to hungry festival-goers. They even run a cooking class on Thursday nights!

The Garden of Neon
The Garden of Neon has transformed Opera Bar into a swanky, green paradise with interactive art installations, live entertainment, and illuminated Vivid cocktails – not to mention the sweeping views of the Harbour Bridge. Head up to The Glenmore’s rooftop terrace and chomp into The Glenmore Burger and Corn on the Cob with chilli lime butter and a sprinkling of cheese as you gaze in awe at the uninterrupted view of the Sydney Opera House. Wooden benches and red industrial chairs give this place a rustic vibe.

Harbour View Hotel
Opt for some finger food or a full pub meal at the historic Harbour View Hotel in The Rocks. As the name implies, the rooftop cocktail bar almost touches the Harbour Bridge, made all the better with cheap and cheerful $10 Steak and Chips on Mondays and Tuesdays. If you book early, you might even reserve a spot near the bar.

MCA Cafe and Sculpture Terrace
Located on level 4 of the Museum of Contemporary Art at the end of Vivid’s Light Trail Walk at Circular Quay, MCA Café & Sculpture Terrace is undoubtedly one of the best vantage points to see the lights. Immerse yourself in breathtaking views of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge as you immerse yourself in primes including Chermoula chicken, burnt eggplant & garlic labne, and the kids with the likes of Whiting fish fingers chips and Meatballs in tomato sauce and spaghetti.

The Deck at Luna Park
The Deck at Luna Park offers mains akin to Panfried blue eye cod fillet with brandade potato, chilli pinenut butter & cachumber, and Chicken schnitzel with chips & salad for the kids. What excited me the most here is that each dining experience comes with a complimentary ride on the famous Luna Park Sydney Ferris Wheel – which means amazing views of Vivid from over 155ft!

Q Dining and ECQ Bar
For the fancy diners, Q Dining and ECQ Bar is just moments from the lights and water of the Harbour Bridge and has embraced Vivid with special deals for the family. Q Dining offers a three course meal for $125pp, while children under 12 not only dine for free but can also have fun playing with their special Vivid goodie bags. They even have a family friendly seating time of 5:30pm. ECQ Bar lends a more casual experience with tapas and a welcome drink for $39pp, and again free goodie bags and meals for children under 12.

Wok On Inn The Rocks
For food on a lower end of the price spectrum that doesn’t skimp on the view, head to Wok On Inn Darling Harbour for a fix of Pad Thai, and if you’re adventurous, you can even piece together your own noodle dish! Kids can choose from dishes like made from scratch Chinese sauce in fried rice and sweet Japanese Teriyaki sauce with curly egg noodles.

Fort Denison Restaurant
Run away with your significant other to a tiny little island fortress, and dine at one of the more eye-catching installations for Vivid at Fort Denison Restaurant. Enjoy front-row seats of the enormous Harbour Lights programme, which will see a flotilla of illuminated boats circling around the island with new colour-changing light technology that turns the harbour into a floating light spectacle. Fort Denison Restaurant recommends booking to experience Dinner DeLIGHTS, where guests enjoy a sumptuous 2-course dinner for $75pp, plus a National Parks guided island tour and the chance to climb in the Tower to peer out of the EYE pictured above. The island is usually closed at night, so this is the perfect opportunity to escape together!

The Woods and Grain Bar are both found in the Four Seasons hotel a street away from Circular Quay. While The Woods has pre-Opera, or shall we say pre-Vivid, 2-course menu and a glass of wine for $55. Grain Bar sets the mood with a roaring fireplace and looks out onto George Street so you can feel the vibe of Vivid. Specials during the week include 20% of all whiskies on Mondays and $1.50 oysters on Thursdays and Fridays.

Vivid Lounge on the Sky Terrace rooftop is the perfect place to watch The Star’s inaugural Vivid Sydney installation, a series of stunning animated images capturing ‘the thrill of Sydney’. Come up and enjoy this captivating light show over a nibble and drink whilst you can also take in the stunning city skyline.

Blu Bar and Altitude are keeping with the Vivid spirit with a special Electro! Cocktail inspired by the lights of Vivid and blends Crème de Gingembre at Blu Bar. Altitude is also rocking a colourful Vivid Degustation Dinner which includes Rose salmon, Clay baked chicken and macarons for $150pp.
