Grey Goose vodka has teamed up with Luxe Bakery and Yellow Bistro for the ultimate French pop-up experience
Potts Point’s Yellow House has been transformed into La Boulangerie: bakery by day and high-class bistro by night.
On the day menu is a range of fresh breads and pastries such as the sweet Fondant Eclair ($7) made from delicate choux pastry, vanilla cream filling and a sugary fondant topped with a raspberry tang. The Tart Chocolat ($7) adds a richness to the menu and has a beautiful smooth texture, while the Tarte Tatin ($7) is full of melt-in-your-mouth, fruity goodness.
Rustic becomes fine dining when the sun goes down with a divine Tasting Menu ($70) created by Chef Brent Savage and Grey Goose Brand Ambassador Andy Wren. The unique 5 course menu was made in recognition of Maître de Chai François Thibault’s Historical Dedication to create a ‘Luxury Vodka with Taste’ and features French delicacies such as foie gras parfait.
Grey Goose vodka has also opened up an elegant martini bar in the area behind Yellow. The Salon de Martini has been adorned with velvet and blue to create the ultimate luxury space. The intimate bar offers signature Grey Goose vodka-based cocktails such as Grey Goose Le Fizz ($16), made from Grey Goose vodka, St Germain elderflower liquer, freshley squeezed lemon juice and chilled East Imperial soda water. Le Fizz is a simple sweet and tangy cocktail almost reminiscent of an adult’s homemade lemonade.
For a sophisticated drink, the Grey Goose Wet Martini ($18) is the way to go. A strong drink made from vodka, Noilly Prat vermouth, orange bitters and a lemon twist, the Wet Martini goes down easily thanks to the smooth Grey Goose vodka.
The Grey Goose in Fashion ($18) has more complexity than the other cocktails on the menu with notes of honey and citrus. The result is a fresh and sweet drink with a twist made from Grey Goose vodka, grilled lemon and honey syrup and yuzu bitters.
Served with the drinks is a food menu full of high-calibre bar food that match the bistro’s standards. During my visit, I indulged in some Foie Gras Parfait with Grey Goose La Poire Pickled Pear. The creamy pâté’s saltiness complimented the sweet pear perfectly while not being too overpowering. The Braised Lamb Shoulder on Brioche followed with a similar flavour palette. A winning combination of tender lamb, pickled onions and soft bread took what could have been an average pub slider to another level. Another bar classic was turned on its head by the Chickpea Chips, served with garlic aioli. It was difficult to stop munching on these fluffy cubes and with an extra je ne sais quoi added from the chickpeas I could see these replacing fries in my future food adventures.
This luxury pop-up event will be ending on September 6 so you’ll need to get in quick if you want to experience the magic that Grey Goose, Yellow and Luxe Bakery have created. For more information, go to greygooselaboulangerie.com.au
